About the position

The Electro-Mechanical Technician/Assembler at Gleason Metrology Systems is responsible for the timely execution of the GMS Master Production Schedule, ensuring that quality products and solutions are delivered on time to customers. This role emphasizes the importance of machine assembly work, debugging practices, quality measures, and system performance testing, all while adhering to Lean Manufacturing principles, Standard Work Procedures, and a mindset geared towards Continuous Improvement. The technician will actively contribute to a team environment, collaborating with various disciplines such as Engineering, Software, Applications, Service, Supply Chain, and GMS Management to enhance product quality and efficiency. Suggestions for new and improved approaches to reduce waste and improve processes are highly encouraged, fostering a culture of Lean Process Manufacturing and Production. In addition to assembly responsibilities, the technician will maintain the Issue Tracking Log (ITL) to support GMS product non-conformance and may be required to provide temporary support for Field Service Engineering when necessary, which could involve 5%-10% domestic or international travel. The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma, with a preference for additional trade school or an associate's degree in a technical discipline, and will have 3-5 years of experience in special machine assembly and troubleshooting, preferably in the machine tool or coordinate measuring machine (CMM) industry. Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is essential, with a demonstrated understanding of Standard Work Procedures, 5S, Work Cells, and Continuous Process Improvement being critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Execute the GMS Master Production Schedule in a timely manner.
  • Ensure quality machine assembly work and debugging practices are followed.
  • Conduct quality measures and system performance testing.
  • Contribute to team discussions for continual product improvement.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Software, Applications, Service, Supply Chain, and Management.
  • Update the Issue Tracking Log (ITL) promptly to support product non-conformance.
  • Maintain availability for Field Service Engineering support as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional Trade School or Associate's Degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in special machine assembly and troubleshooting (mechanical and electrical).
  • 2 years of experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Standard Work Procedures, 5S, and Continuous Process Improvement.
  • Experience in grinding or precision machining is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Familiarity with waste reduction and elimination techniques.
