About the position

The Electromagnetic Design Engineer will lead the design of high-speed permanent magnet alternators and motors, utilizing both in-house and commercial design software for electromagnetic analysis. This role requires collaboration with various engineering teams and involves technical customer interactions, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, and contributing to cost reduction and product improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electromagnetic design analyses and calculations as needed.
  • Prepare and deliver analysis results to large audiences.
  • Interpret and clarify customer technical expectations.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering Team to achieve internal cost targets and establish cost objectives.
  • Define and uphold technical compliance with customer requirements.
  • Adhere to project schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Coordinate technical design efforts with other resources, including Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Operations, and integrated product teams.
  • Draft technical proposals and present technical details to customers.
  • Generate comprehensive design and analysis reports.
  • Serve as the primary technical customer point of contact.
  • Conduct thermal and structural analyses.
  • Implement cost reductions and production product improvements.
  • Provide factory support and resolve field issues.
  • Engage in internal research & development.
  • Take on other coordination and problem-solving projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in electromagnetic design.
  • Proficiency in electrical engineering.
  • Expertise in using electromagnetic analysis software such as Ansys and Motor-CAD.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or college with a foundation in electromagnetic design.

  • Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customer organizations, including upper management.
