About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the efficiency of machinery and equipment in a manufacturing environment, ensuring a safe work atmosphere. This role involves setting up, installing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on production equipment, while also diagnosing malfunctions and making necessary repairs. The technician plays a crucial role in supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair production/manufacturing equipment and machinery.
• Perform scheduled maintenance repairs during machine service.
• Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment.
• Perform simple machinist duties and responsibilities.
• Utilize mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic skills for troubleshooting and repair.
• Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders for maintenance tasks.
• Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, and test equipment.
• Conduct regular preventive maintenance on machines and plant facilities.
• Perform plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions as needed.
• Use hand and power tools, electric meters, and material handling equipment in duties.
• Detect faulty operations and report unusual situations to supervision.
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean work areas.

Requirements

• Completion of a craft apprenticeship or equivalent education and production maintenance experience.
• 3 years of manufacturing experience with strong hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and industrial skills.
• Some experience with PLC systems and mechanical systems such as gear boxes, chains, and motors.
• Ability to read and apply knowledge from product manuals and mechanical drawings.
