About the position

The Electromechanical Technician role at SCHOTT AG involves providing maintenance and repair services for electrical machinery and electronic equipment used in manufacturing processes. The position requires troubleshooting skills for various systems, including electrical, mechanical, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). The technician will work in a team environment, assist in project evaluations, and maintain accurate records of repairs and calibrations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide corrective, preventative, predictive, safety, and emergency repairs to electrical machinery and electronic equipment.
  • Troubleshoot facility wiring and electronic controls, including servo/stepper motor controls and process equipment.
  • Complete accurate records via an Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system.
  • Troubleshoot machine and system failures in a timely manner and provide appropriate corrective actions.
  • Use schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to aid in troubleshooting electronic hardware and various systems.
  • Calibrate electronic controllers and maintain accurate records.
  • Provide project support on internal projects and assist engineering personnel in evaluations and problem-solving.
  • Assist in building and grounds maintenance when needed.
  • Move, assemble, install, adjust, repair, and service all standard production machinery and equipment.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and respond to emergency call-ins.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum two (2) years' electromechanical training and PLC knowledge for troubleshooting and repair for production equipment.
  • Four (4) years' experience in mechanical, electrical repair, and PLC troubleshooting and repair for production equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Computer proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office software.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented.
  • Good manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
