About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain a variety of Mechanized Material Handling Systems (MMHS) and material handling equipment designed for and installed within Air Mobility Command (AMC) air terminal facilities. Tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and calibrates various types of complex electrically and mechanically controlled industrial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots, disassembles, and repairs malfunctions in the electrical systems of material handling equipment to include Elevating/Non-elevating Transport Vehicles (ETV/TV), inventory control system (JCS), Pallet Storage Enclosure (PSE), pallet pit workstations, docks, and associated equipment.
• Troubleshoots, disassembles, and repairs malfunctions in the mechanical systems of material handling equipment to include ETV/TV, JCS, PSE, pallet pit workstations, docks, and associated equipment.
• Provides electronic and technical assistance to solve problems encountered during the operation of the MMHS to include ETV/TV, JCS, PSE, pallet pit workstations, docks, and associated equipment.
• Performs and lays out work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications and work orders.
• Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• Uses and maintains tools.

• May be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
• Emergency overtime may be required.
• The work requires the employee to possess applicable license(s) or authorizations to drive assigned vehicles, e.g., forklift.
• May be required to obtain/maintain a Category TT Bridge Crane license to operate and provide maintenance support to the same.
• Employee must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
• May be required to provide assistance to and certify work products of lower graded and/or newly assigned co-workers.
• This position requires a physical/medical examination.
• This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
