About the position

The Electronic Braking System (EBS) Engineering Advisor role at Cummins Inc. in Troy, MI, focuses on leading systems engineering activities for the development and application of Electronic Braking Systems used in commercial vehicles. The position requires a blend of technical expertise, decision-making skills, and leadership to facilitate quality decisions, improve processes, and mentor less experienced engineers. The advisor will play a crucial role in ensuring product reliability and functionality through effective stakeholder engagement and problem resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating quality decisions by gathering input from stakeholders.
  • Making expert decisions regarding technology integration, design, and risk trade-offs.
  • Creating, managing, and improving processes like ESW and iDFMEA.
  • Leading the resolution of complex system issues with significant global business impact.
  • Developing and improving work processes across functions to drive efficiency.
  • Coordinating and directing technical project teams to ensure successful project completion.
  • Developing local talent and providing guidance across a site or global business unit.
  • Coaching and mentoring other engineers and project managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering is highly desired.
  • 15+ years of experience working with Braking Systems, including ABS and EBS.
  • Previous experience as a Principal Engineer or Chief Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of ABS, ESC/ESP, Traction Control System / Anti-Slip Regulation (TCS/ASR), and other EBS features.
  • Good knowledge of Pneumatic and Electro-Pneumatic Valves and braking system performance.
  • Solid experience as a systems engineer, utilizing Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) tools.
  • Experience with vehicle network topology (CAN, LIN, ethernet) and Electrical & Electronic architecture.
  • Good knowledge in sensor, signal processing, and data analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
