About the position

Boise Cascade Building Materials Distribution is seeking an Electronic Commerce Specialist to support its e-Commerce activities. This role is pivotal in building and leveraging relationships with both internal and external customers, ensuring smooth operations in Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) processes. The position can be based out of either Boise, Idaho, or Billerica, Massachusetts. The Electronic Commerce Specialist will be responsible for monitoring the EDI Support mail folder, resolving EDI issues, and taking ownership of problems within assigned areas. This includes promptly identifying and escalating issues to other EDI team members or management as necessary. The specialist will also track and communicate EDI issues and their outcomes to end users and the EDI team, ensuring that operations run smoothly even when other EDI staff are unavailable. In addition to supporting internal customers such as branch and division administrative personnel, buyers, and sales representatives, the specialist will gather system and EDI information to identify root causes of processing issues and propose solutions. The role requires collaboration with BMD personnel to identify new EDI processes that save time and enhance efficiency. The Electronic Commerce Specialist will also monitor scheduled and manual EDI processes, resolve exception reports, and assist with maintaining trading partner relationships, including adding new partners and synchronizing item data. The position emphasizes a strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement, with additional duties assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Support the e-Commerce activities of BMD by building and leveraging relationships with internal and external customers
  • Monitor EDI Support mail folder
  • Resolve EDI issues and take ownership of issues in assigned areas
  • Promptly and proactively identify and escalate next level issues to other EDI team members or manager
  • Continually track & communicate EDI issues and outcomes to end users and EDI team
  • Maintain shared coverage of operations tasks when other EDI staff are not available
  • Assist BMD Internal customers; Branch and division administrative & accounting personnel, buyers, sales representatives, department managers and other personnel utilizing work product produced by EDI processing
  • Gather system and EDI information to identify root cause of processing issues and end-user challenges
  • Propose and implement solutions
  • Collaborate with BMD personnel to identify new time saving EDI processes
  • Become the EDI processing subject matter expert
  • Monitor EDI scheduled and manual processes; act to resolve exception reports
  • Assist with EDI processing schedule
  • Add and maintain new trading partners
  • Work with trading partners to synchronize item data
  • Produce and disseminate statistical reports
  • Maintain UPC and I2of5 assignments for the division & test new release of ERP software
  • Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • 1-2 years' experience with Supply chain, Distribution, IT or EDI
  • 1-5 years' experience with building materials (Big box stores, etc.)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience in related job function
