About the position

The Electronic Controls Hardware Engineer role at Cummins Inc. is an early career position focused on creating and integrating electrical and electronic hardware essential for Cummins products. The engineer will develop and validate electronic sensors, actuators, control units, and associated systems to ensure reliable operation across various customer applications. This position involves problem-solving, collaboration with suppliers, and contributing to hardware design and validation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate electronic hardware problems and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Own problem resolution and document results with guidance from experienced team members.
  • Support the improvement of electronic hardware development processes and tools.
  • Apply knowledge of design methods such as worst-case analysis and circuit simulation.
  • Collaborate with electronic suppliers and deliver prototype hardware to application engineering teams.
  • Participate in decision-making regarding hardware requirements and validation tests.
  • Contribute to problem resolution for components and systems with low technical complexity.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field required.
  • Good communication skills and strengths in logic, planning, and decision-making.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA preferred.
  • 2 years in a position/internship related to the field of study preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Postgraduate PhD degree may be required for select roles.
