About the position

The Electronic Design Engineer (Embedded) position at Johnson Service Group focuses on the design and development of electronic systems for aerospace applications. The role requires a highly skilled engineer with a strong background in embedded circuits, PCBs, and display technologies, particularly in tight-space configurations such as cockpit panels. The engineer will utilize SolidWorks for creating detailed 3D models and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design integrity and compliance with regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded circuits, flex circuits, PCBs, and display systems for various applications.
  • Create and optimize designs for tight-space environments, including cockpit panels and plastic housings, ensuring functionality and durability.
  • Utilize SolidWorks to produce accurate 3D models, technical drawings, and prototypes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to ensure design integrity and product functionality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve design issues related to space constraints, thermal management, and material selection.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing technical input and suggestions to improve product design and performance.
  • Work within project timelines, ensuring all designs meet specifications and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electronic design, with a focus on embedded circuits, flex circuits, PCBs, and display technologies.
  • Proven experience designing for tight-space configurations such as cockpit panels and plastic housings.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and technical drawing creation.
  • Strong understanding of materials, thermal management, and mechanical constraints in design.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with other CAD software in addition to SolidWorks.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding and CNC machining.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations for electronic and mechanical design.
