About the position

The Electronic Duplicating System Technician position at the Department of Defense involves operating advanced electronic duplicating systems to produce high-quality printed materials. The role requires technical expertise in managing large-scale copying and binding equipment, ensuring efficient production runs, and maintaining quality standards. The technician will also provide guidance to junior operators and maintain accurate records of production activities.

Responsibilities

• Operate a computer workstation to convert customer data into production-ready formats.
• Set up and operate large, high-speed electrostatic copiers and duplicators.
• Scan and insert hardcopy or previously stored images into customer documents.
• Operate bindery machines such as guillotine cutters and paper drills.
• Utilize network software to capture and merge data from various software packages.
• Provide on-the-job guidance to lower-graded operators.
• Maintain records of work completed and notify supervisors of job completion.

Requirements

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 level in a related field.
• Experience in setting up and operating large, high-speed electrostatic copiers and duplicators.
• Ability to manage production runs of various printed materials.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with network-based image capture and retrieval systems.
• Familiarity with desktop publishing software packages.
