We are seeking a skilled and motivated EPAS (Electronic Power Assisted Steering) Integration Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the integration, calibration, and validation of EPAS systems in various vehicle platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that the EPAS system meets performance, safety, and regulatory requirements while delivering an exceptional, best-in-class driving experience. Your responsibilities will include integrating EPAS hardware and software components into vehicle platforms, collaborating with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration, and contributing to the development and enhancement of control algorithms for EPAS systems. You will also participate in functional safety and failure avoidance analysis of complex electrical and software vehicle subsystems, develop and refine calibration parameters for optimal EPAS performance, and design and execute comprehensive test plans for EPAS systems, including lab-based and on-road testing. Additionally, you will ensure that EPAS systems meet all relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements, and stay updated with the latest advancements in EPAS technology to propose and implement improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate EPAS hardware and software components into vehicle platforms.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, and software teams to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of control algorithms for EPAS systems.
  • Ensure the control software is properly calibrated and tuned for various vehicle dynamics.
  • Work with design and development engineers to ensure steering functions and components have appropriate requirements and interface definitions.
  • Participate in functional safety and failure avoidance analysis of complex electrical and software vehicle subsystems.
  • Develop and refine calibration parameters for optimal EPAS performance across different driving conditions and vehicle types.
  • Create and own steering HIL test setups to bench test firmware seeking bugs and regressions.
  • Design and execute comprehensive test plans for EPAS systems, including lab-based and on-road testing.
  • Analyze data to identify performance issues and develop solutions.
  • Work closely with vehicle dynamics, safety, and ADAS teams to ensure EPAS integration aligns with overall vehicle performance goals.
  • Ensure that EPAS systems meet all relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and implement fail-safe strategies to maintain basic steering capabilities in case of system failures.
  • Write system requirements, document all integration and calibration processes, test results, and system configurations.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Embedded Systems.
  • Strong Electrical and Embedded Systems Engineering fundamentals.
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive engineering with a focus on EPAS systems.
  • Proven experience in integrating and calibrating EPAS or similar automotive control systems.
  • 5+ years of experience with Vehicle Network Protocols such as CAN, LIN & Automotive Ethernet.
  • Proficiency in using calibration tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, CANalyzer).
  • Experience and working knowledge of systems development, vehicle architecture, emerging chassis system technologies, software/hardware tool development, brakes and steering system calibration, functional safety, network and diagnostics process.
  • 5+ years of experience designing and developing safety-critical architectures.
  • 3+ years of experience using Embedded networking interface tools for automotive, aerospace or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in designing and launching new Embedded products from concept to production.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Willingness to travel for testing and collaboration with other teams.

Nice-to-haves

  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Embedded Systems.
  • Proven technical expertise in Chassis Systems Design and controls strategies understanding of the intricacies of the subsystem.
  • Proficiency in fundamentals of vehicle architecture, Embedded systems design, RTOSes and Real Time networking.
  • Experience designing and evaluating functional safety concepts in the brakes, steering, and traction control domains.
  • Experience in leading product development from concept to deployment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
