This position is located at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL. This position is not eligible for telecommuting. Essential Functions include performing technical duties in operating, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, calibration, installation and inspection of communications and other mission systems, infrastructure, associated test equipment and other related interfacing systems. You will test and evaluate installations and repairs to ensure accuracy, compatibility and ensure all order/service requirements are fulfilled. Additionally, you will perform corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance, operations, alignment and installation of (data, voice, video, network and other) distribution systems and the associated end instruments/devices. You will be responsible for Property Inventory, Control of Supply Parts and Tools, and Quality Assurance. Quickly evaluating trouble issues, finding the root cause and correcting the problem or referring the issue to a higher level is also part of your responsibilities. Maintaining Station and Operation Logs, documentation, and records is essential, as is working with Electro Static Sensitive (ESD) devices and confirming to ESD safety practices. You will provide accurate REMEDY and IMDS (Trouble Ticket tracking databases) preventative and corrective action reports, complete assigned training and assist with the training of others to ensure optimal availability of qualified personnel for daily operations, maintenance, and launch support. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • AS Degree in Electronic Technology, or two year technical school, equivalent military experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of two years as an Instrumentation Operator/Repairer (IOR) or two years of electronic technician experience related to the systems, subsystems and operations required to maintain communications systems.
  • Good understanding of test, diagnostic, and measurement equipment including RF test equipment, Fireberds, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, Signal Generators, RF Power Meters, and Network Analyzers.
  • Good understanding of data transport systems/network including ATM and IP network architecture.
  • Good understanding of following security protocols and procedures.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working on one or more of the following systems: TMS-3000, FCC-100s, Orion DRCS, KU Band Satellite Communications, ATM Technology, WANIU, IDNX, Timeplex, Alcatel Microwave and HD-SDI Video.
  • Experience working on the following test equipment: Oscilloscope, Fireberd or T-Berd data analyzers.
  • Experience working with various long-haul circuit technologies to include T-1, DS-3, OC-12, OC-48, various encryption devices and IP Networking equipment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Security+ CE certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification within six months of start date.
  • Experience routing, fabricating various types of cabling/connectors and installing equipment.
