About the position

The Senior Electronics Design Engineer at Rolls-Royce is responsible for the design and development of electronics hardware for airworthy electronic engine controllers and monitoring systems used in gas turbine engines. This role encompasses various stages of project development, from initial concept through to testing and final implementation, requiring collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Concept, design and execute electronics circuit design for control and monitoring system
• Schematic creation and PCB layout support
• Perform trade study analysis, tolerance analysis, and various simulations to support the design's accuracy and efficiency
• Perform worst case circuit calculation and analysis (tolerance, stress and FMEA analysis)
• Develop electrical hardware products in the lab through testing, diagnosing, and inspection through development life cycle
• Compile functional description and design assurance testing results into a report sufficient for certifying authorities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering with 2+ years of product development engineering experience
• Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or Computer Engineering
• PhD in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering
• Experience with requirements management
• U.S. Citizenship is required

Nice-to-haves

• 5+ years' experience in circuit design
• Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI)
• Strong Electronic Hardware Design experience
• Experience with schematic capture tools: Allegro-Cadence/Altium Designer
• Experience with Root Cause Analysis and other problem-solving techniques
• Experience with power converters, filtering, protection, EMI reduction techniques
• Ability to analyze and translate high level requirements into a validated design for electrical components
