About the position

The PRT Deputy at Sandia National Laboratories is responsible for leading the ASIC Product Realization Team (PRT) in the design and qualification of ASICs and CMOS microelectronics for Nuclear Weapon modernization programs. This role involves facilitating communication among team members, defining product requirements, coordinating with various organizations, managing resources, and ensuring project delivery within budget and quality standards. The position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and a focus on innovation to meet the demands of future threat environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading the ASIC Product Realization Team (PRT) by supporting effective communication across team members and management.
  • Support the early stages of the ASIC development process by defining and validating product requirements.
  • Work closely with Sandia Advanced and Exploratory Systems to understand future threat environments.
  • Coordinate with other organizations to negotiate PRT requirements and work scopes.
  • Identify resources required to support PRT objectives and establish work scope and budget.
  • Support resource management to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Work with the financial team to track costs and schedule progress.
  • Develop comprehensive design, verification, qualification, and production strategies.
  • Write reports, document design history, and present findings to various partners.
  • Manage product definition and analyze data throughout the product life cycle.
  • Anticipate and manage risks, leading technical evaluations and decision-making processes.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to enhance processes.
  • Employ quality management systems and defect prevention techniques.

Requirements

  • PhD or Master's degree in a STEM field, or Bachelor's degree in STEM with two years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with microelectronics or analog/digital design or with the development of Nuclear Weapon components.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a DOE Q clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering/Computer Engineering or experience in semiconductors.
  • Proven teamwork, adaptability, interpersonal skills, effective leadership, negotiation, delegation, and conflict resolution.
  • Familiarity with integrated circuit processes such as design, fabrication, packaging, and testing.
  • Experience developing high reliability products for harsh environments.
  • NW Design Agency product realization experience.
  • Familiarity with Sandia's Realize Product Procedures and drawing system.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Experience applying problem-solving and critical thinking principles.
  • Experience analyzing data and identifying patterns.
