About the position

As an Electronics Engineering Technician Apprentice at IBM, you will engage in hands-on learning across various labs, including Thermal Lab Tech, Power Card Lab Tech, Optical Diagnostics, Physical Failure Analysis, and Microelectronic Assembly. This apprenticeship offers the chance to apply your knowledge and experience with cutting-edge tools and technologies to support IBM's semiconductor hardware. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and technicians to create and execute test plans that assess electrical performance, while also learning about system analysis and lab safety procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Work in various labs such as Thermal Lab Tech, Power Card Lab Tech, Optical Diagnostics, Physical Failure Analysis, and Microelectronic Assembly.
  • Apply knowledge and experience using the latest tools and technologies to support IBM processors and semiconductor hardware.
  • Create and execute test or physical characterization plans to assess electrical performance against design requirements.
  • Learn principles of system analysis, defect identification, and repair.
  • Follow lab safety procedures relevant to the preparation of samples for characterization.

Requirements

  • Willingness to complete the apprenticeship program requirements.
  • Some knowledge or experience in soldering and de-soldering.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical safety, electron theory, AC basics, and computer electronics.
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment such as multimeters and oscilloscopes.
