About the position

The Electronics Engineer - Test Group at Amentum is responsible for supporting the NATO FORACS project, which aims to provide NATO maritime forces with comprehensive calibration of various systems to defined accuracy and performance standards. This role involves testing sensor accuracy on US and NATO surface ships, submarines, and helicopters, ensuring that data collected reflects sensor performance accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Support testing of installed sensors on surface ships, submarines, and helicopters.
  • Work in a team environment with military, DoD civilians, and contractors to meet testing requirements.
  • Install, configure, and operate specialized data collection and analysis computer networks for real-time data collection.
  • Install, verify, and operate specialized test equipment to support testing.
  • Monitor the setup and operation of shipboard sensor systems to ensure accurate data collection.
  • Supervise the operation of acoustic, radar, and electronic warfare target generating systems in real-time test environments.
  • Monitor the quantity, quality, and relevance of data collected, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Perform data analysis, assess sensor performance, and produce technical reports for a multi-national organization.
  • Liaise with naval personnel to achieve testing goals.
  • Conduct special studies and prepare technical reports on testing methodologies and process improvements.
  • Participate in developing specifications for procuring new equipment/systems to support testing requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering, technology, or science field and two years of experience in Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation of naval sensor systems, or an Associate's degree with six years of experience, or eight years of relevant experience.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a NATO Secret clearance.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an active passport.
  • Must be able to lift and carry material up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at height, and in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to deploy to sea on navy ships and submarines and operate equipment from range support working craft.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of U.S. Navy target sensor systems (radar, sonar, fire control, navigation, etc.), GNSS, and INS.
  • Knowledge of acoustics theory, RF propagation theory, GPS tracking systems, Inertial Navigation Systems, or combat management systems.
  • Familiarity with naval shipboard operations, terminology, customs, traditions, and protocol.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel.
  • Active Secret clearance.
