Draper is seeking a System Integration and Test (I&T) Engineer 2 to join our team in Cambridge, MA. This role is pivotal in the integration and testing of technologies and product lines developed through Draper's core capabilities. The I&T Engineer will be responsible for planning, executing, and managing integration and test activities from the early stages of test concept development through to system certification. This includes functional simulation, subsystem and system integration and testing, verification and validation (V&V), performance evaluation, and acceptance testing. The successful candidate will leverage their multi-disciplinary engineering expertise and collaborate closely with other Systems Engineers to establish clear, verifiable, and traceable requirements. They will also inform and drive system concepts, architectures, and designs to enhance testability, utilizing resident expertise and lessons learned to support the development of highly reliable, robust, and complex systems. In this role, the I&T Engineer will help define an integration and test approach for specific components, subsystems, or systems and will independently execute the plan. They will contribute high-quality content for technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance and will need to adapt to changes in program requirements. Proactive identification of needs and concerns associated with plan execution is essential, as is effective communication with project leadership. The position also involves developing and executing tests for electronic modules, including failure analysis, verification and validation testing, and function testing, while implementing improvements for current test processes. The engineer will work closely with manufacturing engineers, production engineers, and mechanical engineers to accomplish inter-disciplinary activities, and will be responsible for creating and presenting status updates to upper management on ongoing failure investigations and important milestones.
