About the position

Sinclair Community Colleges seeks to attract an academically and culturally diverse faculty that carries out the mission of the college with dedication, innovation and a commitment to the success of each student. The Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math is currently seeking candidates for a tenure track opening in the Electronics & Robotics department effective January 2, 2025. The person in this position will primarily be assigned to teach courses in the Automation & Control Technology program at Sinclair's Mason campus. This 9-month faculty position that requires an innovative educator who is committed to student success as measured through student engagement and completion. The faculty may be expected to teach lecture, and lab following the course syllabus, fulfill the mission of the college, and follow college policies and procedures while also maintaining attendance records, grading student work, and submitting student grades in a timely manner. In addition to these responsibilities, the instructor will be expected to perform related duties such as serving on department and college committees, supervising student internships, serving as an ambassador for the Electronics and Robotics degree programs, and mentoring and coaching students. Teaching assignments may include day and evening assignments on the Mason campus and/or the Dayton campus. The position reports to the Electronics and Robotics Department Chair.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out the six Critical Performance areas of a tenure track appointment
  • Maintain and seek to improve currency and competence in the discipline as a teacher
  • Participate in the continuing development and implementation of the department's curriculum through teaching that reflects a strong commitment to fostering student success
  • Implement evaluations according to established standards and use assessment data to continuously improve teaching and learning
  • Actively seek to advance the development of individual students and their capacity to meet their educational goals
  • Contribute to the continuous review and revision of the department's curriculum
  • Contribute to the operation and advancement of the college through committee service and other activities

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology, with an emphasis in Electronics or Electrical or Computer or Automation or Internet of Things or Controls or Biomedical Technology, or a related area required; master's degree preferred
  • Candidates without a master's degree will be required to obtain one within a specified time
  • Evidence of successful prior teaching experience preferred
  • Experience applying Engineering or Engineering technology in manufacturing, government, utilities, or healthcare is preferred
  • Possession of industry-recognized credentials is preferred
  • Experience in the semiconductor industry, especially working in cleanrooms or with vacuum systems preferred
  • Demonstrated commitment to improving student learning through innovative strategies shown to help students succeed at the course and program level
  • Effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with the capacity to work successfully in a culturally diverse college community required
  • Demonstrated skills in using modern educational technology, including multimedia-based classroom & laboratory instruction required
