About the position

The Electronics Sr HW Design Engineer will leverage their expertise in electronics hardware design and simulation to lead engineering project teams, interface with cross-functional peers, and develop innovative solutions for both external and internal customers. This role involves project management, technical specification development, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards while fostering a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for external customers (electricians, installers) and internal customers (marketing, industrialization, quality).
  • Assist in the refinement of Marketing Offer Requirements.
  • Develop Technical Product Specifications and conduct competitive analysis.
  • Create product architecture options and selection methods.
  • Define engineering work packages, develop project schedules, and estimate required resources.
  • Direct tasks of electronics designers, technicians, and other resources.
  • Present and communicate project summaries to internal stakeholders clearly.
  • Facilitate the generation of prototypes for testing.
  • Author verification and validation test plans including test methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Interpret test results and synthesize data into technical communication for effective presentations to senior management.
  • Oversee the development of the product definition file, including schematic capture, PCB & PCBA creation, BOM creation, and other specifications.
  • Document intellectual property and novel ideas for patent applications.
  • Analyze risks of safety products and develop mitigations using A/D/T/P FMEA and FTA techniques.
  • Understand EMC testing and design mitigation techniques.
  • Develop, debug, analyze, and conduct root cause analysis for HW and embedded systems from proof of concept through development, production, and customer support.
  • Contribute to the development of user documentation such as instruction bulletins, safety labels, and product markings.
  • Synthesize and distill 3rd party standards into product requirements and work with certification agencies like Underwriters Laboratories (UL).

Requirements

  • US citizenship, Permanent Resident, or holder of H1 or L1 visa.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering; Master's or PhD degree is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics HW product development.
  • Demonstrated success in at least one new project development, articulating responsibilities and role.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Cadence tool suite.
  • Familiarity with UL/CSA/IEC standards.
  • Strong understanding of design for test and reliability in safety products.
  • Thermal modeling and understanding of magnetics.
