About the position

The Electronics Senior Hardware Design Engineer at Schneider Electric is responsible for leading engineering project teams in the development and evolution of electronic hardware products. This role involves interfacing with cross-functional teams to create solutions for both external and internal customers, ensuring that product specifications meet market needs and compliance standards. The engineer will manage projects, develop prototypes, and oversee the documentation and testing processes, contributing to the overall success of product development.

Responsibilities

  • Develop solutions for external and internal customers.
  • Assist in the refinement of Marketing Offer Requirements and Technical Product Specifications.
  • Conduct competitive analysis and develop product architecture options.
  • Define engineering work packages, develop project schedules, and estimate required resources.
  • Direct tasks of electronics designers, technicians, and other resources.
  • Present and communicate project summaries to internal stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the generation of prototypes for testing.
  • Author verification and validation test plans including test methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Interpret test results and synthesize data into technical communication for presentations to senior management.
  • Oversee the development of the product definition file including schematic capture, PCB & PCBA creation, and BOM creation.
  • Document intellectual property and novel ideas for patent applications.
  • Analyze risks of safety products and develop mitigations using A/D/T/P FMEA and FTA techniques.
  • Develop, debug, analyze, and conduct root cause analysis for HW and embedded systems.
  • Contribute to the development of user documentation such as instruction bulletins and safety labels.
  • Synthesize and distill 3rd party standards into product requirements and work with certification agencies.

Requirements

  • US citizenship, Permanent Resident or holder of H1 or L1 visa.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • Master's or PhD degree or candidate is a plus.
  • 5+ years of experience in electronics HW product development.
  • Demonstrated success in at least one new project development.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with UL/CSA/IEC standards.
  • Experience with Cadence tool suite.
  • Strong understanding of EMC testing and design mitigation techniques.
  • Experience with thermal modeling and understanding of magnetics.
