About the position

Inserso is seeking an Electronics Technician to provide support to our USCG FORCECOM customer at the U.S. Coast Guard Training Center (TRACEN) located in Petaluma, CA. Specifically, this position will support classroom training equipment of various electronics hardware which includes transceivers, radar, and radio frequency equipment. The position will support the classroom computer simulation environment and associated electronic equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of electronics hardware including High Frequency (HF) transceivers, Very High Frequency (VHF) transceivers, Surface Search Radar, patch panels, audio, video, data, assorted Radio Frequency (RF) equipment.
  • Perform tower maintenance and tower climbing to fix electronic equipment and hardware installed on the towers.
  • Use and/or troubleshoot with electronic test equipment and hardware tools which may include: Analog Multimeter, Digital Multimeter, Oscilloscope, Signal Generator, Frequency Counter, Watt Meter, IFR (Communications Analyzer), Analog phone line tester (Fox and Hound), Network Data Analyzer, Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR), digital voltmeters, signal analyzers, watt meters, and High Voltage Insulation Tester (Megger).
  • Set up and take down electronics hardware and equipment to include: High HF Transceivers, VHF Transceivers, Ultra High Frequency (UHF)/VHF Transceivers, Digital Voice Data Loggers, Data and Audio Patch Panels, Sound powered phones, TA-970 Remote handsets, Surface Search Radars, various whip antenna's (including tower climbing qualifications), Police and Fire Department Radio Scanners, Assorted Audio Visual (A/V) equipment, Electronic Marquee Signs, Symposiums Video Projection Equipment, Remote Cameras, HF and VHF Radio Simulators and Guard Receivers, Cryptographic Equipment, Radar Simulators, VOIP VHF radio simulators and VOIP telephony systems.
  • Calibrate and/or troubleshoot equipment and control parts, to include: High HF Transceivers, VHF Transceivers, UHF/VHF Transceivers, HF Modems, Digital Voice Data Loggers, Data and Audio Patch Panels, Integrated telecommunication systems, Sound powered phones, TA-970 Remote handsets, Surface Search Radars, Situational Awareness Command and Control Systems, various whip antenna's (including tower climbing qualifications), Police and Fire Department Radio Scanners, Assorted A/V equipment, Electronic Marquee Signs, Symposiums Video Projection Equipment, Remote Cameras, HF and VHF Radio Simulators and Guard Receivers, Cryptographic Equipment, Radar Simulators, VOIP VHF radio simulators and VOIP telephony systems.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Experience with electronic equipment stated above.
  • DoD Secret Clearance (can start with an interim).
  • Problem-solving skills to diagnose issues and devise solutions.
  • Excellent observational skills to notice potential problems during service checks.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at interpreting diagrams and schematics.
  • Good technical writing, presentation, and documentation skills.
  • Must have excellent team skills and collaboration skills.
  • Attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to perform requirements gathering and interpretation of client needs.
