About the position

The position involves maintaining the physical security of a correctional institution through the management of various electronic systems. The role is critical in ensuring the safety and well-being of both staff and inmates by overseeing the installation, maintenance, and reliability of security and communication systems. The incumbent will also provide technical support and conduct inspections as part of their responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the physical security of the institution through installation, maintenance, and repairs of electronic systems.
  • Ensure the reliability of the institution's electronic security and communication systems.
  • Provide technical support during the preparation of drawings and specifications for electronic and telecommunication equipment.
  • Conduct inspections and perform preventive maintenance as required by policy.
  • Maintain security of the institution as part of correctional responsibilities.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service.
  • Experience as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic with knowledge of electronic theory and equipment.
  • Ability to use schematic diagrams and test equipment for troubleshooting and maintenance of electronic systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance and installation of electronic systems.
