About the position

The Elementary After School Program Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the North Nashville After School Program, which is dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of elementary school children. This position is full-time and operates on a school year schedule from 11 AM to 7 PM, Monday through Friday, with adjustments during the summer months to 8 AM to 4 PM. The ideal candidate will be passionate about empowering children from challenging backgrounds and will possess a strong work ethic, excellent time management skills, and a collaborative spirit. The coordinator will be responsible for building meaningful relationships with children and families, ensuring that the program meets the social and emotional needs of its participants. In addition to direct program responsibilities, the coordinator will work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and schedule volunteers, tutors, and contract staff. They will also be tasked with collecting necessary data and documentation for grant funders, ensuring timely submission of reports in collaboration with the Development Director. The coordinator will engage with local schools to promote the after-school program, recruit students, and gather progress reports for enrolled participants. Hosting an annual Parent Orientation in August is also a key responsibility, along with maintaining relationships with parents, guardians, and teachers. The coordinator will be expected to conduct themselves in alignment with the organization's statement of faith and staff values, attend regular staff meetings, and maintain consistent office hours. They will meet weekly with the North Nashville Director to discuss program updates and needs, and will also be responsible for onboarding new volunteers and ensuring that volunteer needs are met. The role requires strong administrative skills, the ability to multitask, and a detail-oriented approach to executing events and developing strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Volunteer Coordinator to recruit, train, and schedule all volunteers, tutors, contract staff, and Fine Arts professionals.
  • Collect all required data and documentation for grant funders and work closely with Development Director to ensure on-time submission of required reports.
  • Meet with schools to promote after-school program; recruit students, obtain progress reports for enrolled students.
  • Host annual Parent Orientation in August of each school year.
  • Write, plan, or utilize a published curriculum that meets the social/emotional needs of the students present.
  • Form and maintain relationships with parents/guardians of and teachers for all elementary school students enrolled in our After School Program.
  • Assist with summer programming as indicated by Executive Director.
