About the position

The Elementary Athletic Director at Southside Elementary School is responsible for managing and coordinating the school's athletic activities and sports programs. The primary goal of this position is to promote athletics and physical fitness as positive extracurricular activities, ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to participate and benefit from the school's athletic programs. The Athletic Director will work closely with the Principal and other staff to oversee the athletic programs, making recommendations for policies and procedures that enhance the effectiveness of these programs. In this role, the Athletic Director will assist in the recruitment, selection, supervision, and evaluation of all coaches, serving as a consultant to administration, teaching staff, coaches, and students regarding athletic matters. The position also involves supervising athletic facilities, coordinating practices and events, and disseminating information about athletic events to the school community. The Athletic Director will create promotional materials for athletic events in both printed and electronic formats to foster awareness and support for the school's athletic programs. Additionally, the Athletic Director will coordinate physical examinations for participants in athletics and handle all accidents and injuries in accordance with school policies and applicable laws. This position requires travel to various school district buildings as necessary, and the Athletic Director must possess a strong knowledge of athletics and physical fitness, along with effective communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Knowledge of athletics, athletic programs, and physical fitness.
  • Ability to evaluate, develop, and implement athletic programs, activities, and events.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to organize multiple tasks and conflicting time constraints.
