About the position

The Elementary Autism Teacher position at Futuro Academy Public Charter School is a full-time role designed for a licensed special educator passionate about supporting diverse learners, particularly those with autism. Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect instruction in Special Education for core elementary subjects.
• Evaluate students' progress and prepare individual achievement reports for parents.
• Prepare required components of annual IEP documents and facilitate annual IEP meetings.
• Create an inviting and innovative learning environment for students.
• Engage in effective school-wide classroom management practices.
• Incorporate feedback and coaching from administrative staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Requirements

• BA/BS degree in Education or related field.
• Special Education Teacher certification.
• Demonstrated expertise in the subject area to be taught.
• Strong communication skills.
• Experience engaging school-age children, especially those with special needs.
• Teaching experience in a public or private school, preferably in an urban setting.
• Ability to work well with parents and as a team member.
• Ability to evaluate tests and measurements of achievement.

Nice-to-haves

• Expertise in the subject area taught, evidenced by personal skills or educational background.
• Proficiency in teaching with quantitative and qualitative results from previous experience.
• Spanish fluency is highly preferred.
