About the position

The Elementary Classroom Teacher - Full-time Substitute position at Albany Area Schools is designed to facilitate student success and growth in both academic and interpersonal skills. The role involves implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting student progress, and creating a safe and optimal learning environment. The individual will work at both Albany Elementary and the Early Learning Center, providing feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer school elementary curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate lesson plans into learning experiences.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs.
  • Instruct students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws.
  • Continue to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field.
  • Organize and maintain a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities.
  • Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
  • Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies.
  • Coordinate with other elementary professional staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum.

Requirements

  • Minnesota State Certification
  • MN Teaching License
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education
  • Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy
  • Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents
