The primary purpose of this position is to enable children to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher. The individual in this role will be responsible for following the plans and schedules set by the absent teacher, ensuring that the educational experience remains uninterrupted. This includes teaching the lessons prepared by the regular teacher and providing feedback on the day's activities to the building principal. The substitute teacher must adhere to all school and Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) policies, rules, and procedures, maintaining the integrity of the educational environment. In addition to instructional duties, the substitute teacher will manage student behavior, ensuring that established routines and procedures are maintained. This includes overseeing pupil behavior in class and during other times throughout the school day, as well as maintaining appropriate student behavior at all times. The substitute teacher is expected to foster good relations with faculty and staff, treating all information about students and staff with the utmost confidentiality.
