About the position

The primary purpose of this position is to enable children to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher. The individual in this role will be responsible for following the plans and schedules set by the absent teacher, ensuring that the educational experience remains uninterrupted. This includes teaching the lessons prepared by the regular teacher and providing feedback on the day's activities to the building principal. The substitute teacher must adhere to all school and Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) policies, rules, and procedures, maintaining the integrity of the educational environment. In addition to instructional duties, the substitute teacher will manage student behavior, ensuring that established routines and procedures are maintained. This includes overseeing pupil behavior in class and during other times throughout the school day, as well as maintaining appropriate student behavior at all times. The substitute teacher is expected to foster good relations with faculty and staff, treating all information about students and staff with the utmost confidentiality. The role may also involve performing other duties as assigned, which may not be explicitly listed in the job description. The substitute teacher is expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company, supporting the values of academic excellence, operational performance, superior culture, and financial health and growth as outlined in the Employee Handbook. The work environment is typical of a school setting, which may include noisy conditions during high student traffic. The position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), meaning it is subject to minimum wage and overtime provisions.
