About the position

The Elementary Daily Substitute position at Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) is designed for individuals who are passionate about inspiring and motivating young learners. This role is crucial in ensuring that students continue their education smoothly in the absence of their regular teacher. The substitute will follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, maintain classroom routines, and manage student behavior, all while adhering to the policies and procedures of the school and CSUSA.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and schedules with the principal or designated teacher for the teaching day.
• Teaches lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Reports daily activities in writing and provides feedback as requested by the building principal.
• Follows all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures.
• Consults with the building principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson not specified in the teacher's plans.
• Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms.
• Oversees pupil behavior in class and during the school day as requested.
• Maintains appropriate student behavior throughout the school day.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of District's Substitute Workshop as required by the district.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company.
• Ability to work and interact with staff and relate to individuals at all levels of the organization.
• Time management skills including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
• Basic computer skills including Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a classroom setting as a substitute or teacher's aide.
• Familiarity with educational technology and tools.
