The Elementary Daily Substitute at Berkeley Preparatory Academy plays a crucial role in ensuring that students continue their education smoothly in the absence of their regular teacher. The substitute teacher will follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, manage student behavior, and maintain the established routines of the classroom.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and schedules with the principal or designated teacher before the teaching day.
• Teaches lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Reports daily activities in writing and provides feedback as requested by the principal.
• Follows all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures.
• Consults with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson not specified in the teacher's plans.
• Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms.
• Oversees pupil behavior in class and during the school day.
• Maintains appropriate student behavior at all times.
• Maintains good relations with faculty and staff and treats information about students and staff with confidentiality.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
• Completion of District's Substitute Workshop (as required by the district).
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company.
• Ability to work and interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Strong time management skills including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
• Basic computer skills including Windows (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
