About the position

The Dr. Bonnie G. Metcalf School of Education at California Baptist University is seeking a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor in Elementary Education, starting August 2025. This role is designed for an enthusiastic educator who will contribute to the development of future educators through teaching, research, and community service, while integrating Christian faith into educational practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach courses within the School of Education.
• Engage in research and service through the university and community.
• Participate in assessment and curriculum development.
• Contribute to university and school committees.

Requirements

• Terminal degree in education (ABD will be considered).
• Teaching credential.
• Relevant professional experience.
• Commitment to integrating Christian faith and theology with education.
• Ability to excel in teaching, scholarship, and service.
• Knowledge of current public schooling context, including California-adopted P12 content standards.
• Current knowledge of Elementary Education best practices.
• Understanding of diversity in society, including abilities, culture, language, race, ethnicity, and gender orientation.
• Demonstrated effective professional practices in teaching and learning, scholarship, and service.
• Recent teaching experience with K-12 students.
• Ability to teach a diverse student population.

Nice-to-haves

• Evidence of effective and innovative teaching at the graduate and/or undergraduate level.
• Evidence of a research agenda and scholarly activity.
