About the position

The Elementary Exceptional Education Teacher at East End Prep is responsible for providing specialized instruction to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in a full inclusion classroom setting. This role emphasizes collaboration with other educators, family engagement, and adherence to the school's core values, all aimed at fostering a supportive learning environment for students with exceptional needs. The teacher will also engage in ongoing professional development and contribute to the overall success of the school community.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee, supervise, and lead a cohort of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Adapt classroom work in collaboration with other teachers to provide instructional materials that address individualized learning plans.
  • Write, maintain, and manage accurate IEP records and other paperwork associated with the exceptional education process.
  • Implement IEP accommodations for students.
  • Design and implement high-quality lessons and classroom instruction.
  • Provide families with guidance and resources to support their scholar's schoolwork at home.
  • Serve as a point of contact for families regarding scholar academic progress and school information.
  • Track and input daily student behavior feedback to share with families.
  • Uphold East End Prep's core values at all times.
  • Own arrival duty, recess or lunch duty, and dismissal duty as assigned.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences, Kick Off Night, and other school-wide events.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development programming, including summer training and PD sessions throughout the year.

Requirements

  • Active Tennessee teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.
  • Proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.
