About the position

The Islamic Center of Claremont Community School (ICCCS) is seeking dedicated Elementary and Middle School Teachers specializing in English to join our educational team. Our institution is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and serves students from PreK to Grade 8. Our mission is to foster intellectual development through a rich academic program that integrates the classic tenets of American and Islamic scholarship. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program that not only meets the academic needs of our students but also respects and incorporates Islamic values into the learning environment. As a teacher at ICCCS, you will be expected to administer the appropriate district curriculum while preparing and delivering engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning. You will develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments in accordance with established procedures, ensuring that all students are actively engaged in their learning. The role requires you to instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and technology, manage classroom behavior, and maintain discipline in line with school policies. You will also provide constructive feedback on student work, encourage individual progress, and adjust teaching strategies based on student needs. In addition to classroom responsibilities, you will maintain accurate records of student progress, prepare reports, and communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student needs and progress. Participation in department meetings, school events, and extracurricular activities is also expected. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to working with students from diverse backgrounds and will actively encourage parent and community involvement in the educational process. This position is supervised by the principal and requires a collaborative approach to education, ensuring that all students have the opportunity to succeed in a supportive and enriching environment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans, and tests in accordance with established procedures.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on work and encourage individual student progress.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Participate in department, school, and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues, and parents regarding student progress and needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities and provide a variety of learning materials and resources.
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance and development.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests, and assignments.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement and respond to inquiries promptly.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities and extracurricular activities as directed.

Requirements

  • B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution.
  • California teaching credential in a single subject area is preferred.
  • CLAD/EL authorization; candidates without this must obtain it within one year.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  • Meet professional teacher education requirements of school, district, and state.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in teaching in a multicultural environment.
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus.
