About the position

The Elementary Permanent Substitute position at Charter Schools USA (CSUSA) is designed for individuals who are passionate about inspiring and motivating young learners. This role is crucial in ensuring that students continue their education smoothly in the absence of their regular teacher. The substitute will follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, maintain classroom routines, and manage student behavior, all while adhering to the school's policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and schedules with the principal or designated teacher before the teaching day.
• Teach lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Report daily activities in writing and provide feedback as requested by the principal.
• Follow all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures.
• Consult with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson not specified in the teacher's plans.
• Maintain established routines and procedures in the classroom.
• Oversee pupil behavior in class and during school hours.
• Maintain appropriate student behavior throughout the school day.
• Maintain good relations with faculty and staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Completion of District's Substitute Workshop.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm and commitment to the job and the company's mission.
• Ability to work and interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Strong time management skills including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
• Basic computer skills including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Effective oral and written communication skills, including active listening and interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in a classroom setting as a substitute or teacher.
• Familiarity with educational technology and tools.
