About the position

The Elementary Perm Substitute at Charter Schools USA plays a crucial role in ensuring that students continue their education seamlessly in the absence of their regular teacher. The substitute teacher will follow the lesson plans provided by the absent teacher, maintain classroom routines, and manage student behavior, all while adhering to the policies and procedures of the school and the organization.

Responsibilities

• Reviews plans and schedules with the principal or designated teacher before the teaching day.
• Teaches lessons prepared by the absent teacher.
• Reports daily activities in writing and provides feedback as requested by the principal.
• Follows all school and CSUSA policies, rules, and procedures.
• Consults with the principal or supervisor before initiating any lesson not specified in the teacher's plans.
• Maintains established routines and procedures of the school and classrooms.
• Oversees pupil behavior in class and during the school day as requested.
• Maintains appropriate student behavior throughout the school day.
• Maintains good relations with faculty and staff and treats information about students and staff with confidentiality.

Requirements

• BS/BA degree or equivalent experience.
• Completion of District's Substitute Workshop.
• Demonstrates enthusiasm and commitment toward the job and the mission of the company.
• Ability to work and interact with staff at all levels of the organization.
• Strong time management skills including prioritizing, organizing, and scheduling.
• Basic computer skills including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written, including active listening and negotiation.
