About the position

The Elementary School Registrar/Secretary at Harris Elementary School is a vital role responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive educational records for each student. This position requires a high school graduate with strong typing skills, specifically the ability to type at least 55 words per minute, and experience in general office work. The registrar/secretary will be highly skilled in using personal computers and must demonstrate strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. The role is essential in ensuring that all student data is accurately inputted and updated in the e-school system, assisting with district-wide registration, and managing the enrollment and withdrawal of students. In addition to maintaining permanent school records, the registrar/secretary will handle various secretarial duties, operate standard office machines, and help maintain a positive school image. Responsibilities also include assisting in the ordering of materials and supplies, preparing and distributing school forms and bulletins, and supporting school functions. The position may require administering first aid in the absence of the school nurse and managing parent-supplied medication records. The registrar/secretary will report directly to the building principal and will perform other duties as assigned to support the school's operations effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Input/update student information into e-school system.
  • Assist with District-wide registration.
  • Enroll new students and initiate necessary records.
  • Withdraw students and retire necessary records.
  • Maintain accurate, permanent school record for each student.
  • Maintain school records required for school attendance.
  • Operate standard office machines and perform general school related secretarial duties.
  • Help maintain a positive school image.
  • Assist with ordering of materials and bookstore supplies unless primary responsibility is delegated by principal.
  • Assist in preparation, production, and distribution of school forms and handbooks.
  • Assist in preparation, production, and distribution of school bulletins.
  • Assist with checking students in and out.
  • After inservice training, assist in administering first aid to control contagious or emergency medical problems in the absence of the school nurse.
  • Assist in administering parent supplied medication and properly record each dose.
  • Support and assist in school functions.
  • Assist in the updating of the computerized student directory.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Accurately Type 55 WPM
  • Experience in General Office Work
  • Highly skilled on personal computer
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills

Benefits

  • Salary Range: $12.04/hr. - $21.32/hr. depending on relevant experience
  • Length of Contract: 192 days per contract year/8 hours per day
