About the position

RISE Education is seeking a passionate and experienced Elementary Spanish Teacher who thrives in the elementary school classroom environment. This role involves providing World Language education through cultural immersion for students ranging from toddlers to teens. The ideal candidate will have a child-centered approach, creating a safe and well-ordered classroom that fosters learning. The teacher will be responsible for developing engaging and innovative lessons that align with national curriculum standards, helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. The position requires incorporating technology and hands-on learning experiences into the classroom, promoting collaboration with colleagues, and enhancing understanding in a diverse learning environment. The teacher will also be expected to close the achievement gap and reflect on their teaching practices to improve performance based on feedback. This position is located in Bowie, MD, and offers a travel stipend for those commuting over 20 miles. The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 3 PM, with a start date of August 19, 2024.

Responsibilities

  • Providing conversational classes where pronunciation and important words and phrases are taught.
  • Teaching writing and Spanish composition classes.
  • Teaching students about Spanish culture, including festivals, traditional food, dress, and social conventions.
  • Fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment.
  • Setting and reinforcing clear expectations and routines aligned with the school's vision.
  • Developing and implementing curricula and activities to meet academic standards.
  • Planning daily lessons and implementing strategies to meet the needs of all students, providing extra support or enrichment when necessary.
  • Demonstrating strong content knowledge.
  • Designing and implementing assessments that measure progress towards academic standards and diagnose areas of student misunderstanding.
  • Using assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices.
  • Being accountable for students' academic growth and increasing each individual student's achievement.
  • Creating a positive, achievement-oriented learning environment.
  • Reflecting on successes and areas of growth as a teacher, seeking to improve performance, and responding to feedback.
  • Participating in collaborative curriculum development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions.
  • Investing parents and families in their children's academic success through regular communication.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • Experience working with children is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents and families.
  • Strong instructional skills and classroom management are essential.
  • Demonstrated mastery of subject matter and enthusiasm for teaching.
  • Unrelenting commitment to students and the school's constant learning and development.
  • Ability to self-reflect on teaching practices and be responsive to feedback.
