About the position

The Elementary Special Education Teacher at Fulbright Elementary School is responsible for developing, instructing, and collecting data on students in the areas of education, behavior, and social skills. This position is designed for a self-contained classroom setting, where the teacher will work closely with students who have special needs. The teacher will be a vital member of the educational management team, collaborating with other educators and staff to implement individual educational goals and objectives tailored to each student's unique needs. The role requires a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes the academic and social development of students with disabilities. In this position, the teacher will collect and analyze data on students' progress, ensuring that educational strategies are effective and aligned with each student's Individual Education Plan (IEP). The teacher will meet with assigned classes, providing instruction that is engaging and accessible, while also adapting lessons to meet the diverse needs of students. Additionally, the teacher will perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor, contributing to the overall success of the school and its students. The position is a nine and one-fourth (9.25) month contract, encompassing 190 days of employment, and offers a competitive salary range based on experience and the Little Rock School District's salary placement guidelines. The teacher will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and dedication to quality desegregated education, ensuring that all students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individual educational goals and objectives for students.
  • Collect and analyze data on students' progress in education, behavior, and social skills.
  • Meet with assigned classes to provide instruction and support.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Current Arkansas certification in Special Education.
  • Evidence of successful experience working with at-risk students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others in an educational setting.
  • Experience in implementing non-aversive behavioral programs and social skills training.
  • Strong writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Commitment to quality desegregated education.
