About the position

The Elementary Support Teacher at KIPP Nashville Public Schools plays a crucial role in supporting student learning by serving primarily as an in-building substitute teacher. This position involves engaging flexibly with students, assisting in curriculum development, fostering a positive school culture, and maintaining strong communication with families. The teacher will adapt to various classroom needs and contribute to the overall mission of KIPP Nashville to provide an excellent education to students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Flexibly support student learning primarily as an in-building Substitute Teacher.
  • Engage adaptively to the needs of students across the school as directed by the Principal.
  • Cover classrooms for parental leave or extended absences, and pull small groups for intervention.
  • Support school-wide procedures such as lunch, arrival, and dismissal.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies and materials that reflect understanding of individual student needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the school team to develop a positive school culture.
  • Attend and participate in all staff meetings and communicate openly with staff.
  • Establish and maintain strong communication lines with families and be available for school events.
  • Pursue challenging professional goals and participate in professional development.

Requirements

  • Conferred Bachelor's Degree
  • Pass Criminal Background Check

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with students (highly preferred)
  • Commitment to working with students from educationally under-resourced communities (highly preferred)
  • At least two years of teaching experience (preferred)
  • Passionate about data-driven instruction
  • Firm belief in affirming the identity of students, families, and staff
