About the position

The Elementary Support Teacher at Grace Place for Children and Families is responsible for assisting in the implementation of a high-quality, developmentally appropriate after-school program for elementary school-aged children. This part-time role focuses on supporting classroom activities, ensuring student safety, and fostering a collaborative environment with teachers, volunteers, and parents.

Responsibilities

• Aid in maintenance of classroom organization including setup and cleanup, managing supplies, and assisting with classroom activities.
• Ensure the safety of children through active supervision during various activities in different settings such as classrooms, playgrounds, and cafeterias.
• Support instructional methods to promote math and reading growth through various teaching strategies including whole group instruction and small group instruction.
• Encourage and manage volunteer involvement in the classroom, modeling appropriate instructional strategies.
• Communicate effectively with parents and support parent events throughout the year.

Requirements

• Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 1 year of experience in youth development, childcare, or a related field is required.
• Must obtain Foundation Florida DCF certificate within 1 year of employment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills for maintaining records and communication.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures and populations.
