About the position

The Elementary Support Teacher plays a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of classroom operation within a Montessori educational environment. This position involves planning and implementing a curriculum that aligns with Montessori principles, ensuring that the classroom is a safe, orderly, and appropriately challenging space for students. The teacher is responsible for creating an environment that fosters learning, socialization, exploration, and growth among children. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, flexibility, and effective classroom management abilities, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Collaboration with co-teachers and Assistant Teachers is essential to maintain high classroom standards and to support the overall educational mission of the school. In this role, the Elementary Support Teacher will engage in various responsibilities, including lesson planning that adheres to Montessori curriculum guidelines, monitoring student progress, and maintaining clear behavior expectations. The teacher will also be expected to communicate regularly with families about their child's educational goals and progress, providing both positive and constructive feedback. Additionally, the teacher will collaborate with colleagues to enhance the educational experience and support the professional growth of Assistant Teachers when applicable. The position requires a commitment to professional development and a dedication to the craft of teaching. Responsibilities

• Plan and implement curriculum aligned with Montessori principles.
• Create and maintain an orderly, safe, and challenging learning environment.
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and educational goals.
• Collaborate with co-teachers and Assistant Teachers to ensure classroom standards are met.
• Establish and maintain clear behavior expectations and classroom routines.
• Monitor student progress through routine observations and assessments.
• Prepare well-written narrative progress reports for each student.
• Engage in family and community outreach to keep parents informed.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share classroom responsibilities and solve problems.
• Demonstrate professionalism and manage classroom budget effectively.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree or beyond in a related field.
• Montessori certification for ages 6-9 or 9-12 or willingness to undertake training.
• Massachusetts Educator Licensure for Grades 1-5.
• Experience working in a Montessori classroom.
