About the position

The Elementary Targeted Services Teacher Substitute Pool position at Weaver Elementary School is designed for educators who will provide instructional support in core curriculum areas for students in grades K-6. This role involves adapting teaching methods to meet diverse student needs and ensuring effective communication with students, parents, and staff. The substitute teacher will work in a collaborative environment, implementing district goals and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction in the core curriculum areas for which employed, utilizing instructional resources and technologies.
  • Implement the goals and objectives of the District and the school or program for which employed.
  • Follow the prescribed course of study, adhering to curriculum outlines and regulations.
  • Evaluate student performance according to the system used by the school and promote student achievement.
  • Maintain required student records and make related reports to the principal as prescribed or authorized by the superintendent.
  • Maintain contact and communication with parents of students and collaborate with them in student development.
  • Perform classroom management duties, enforcing District rules and taking appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Enforce District guidelines regarding health and hygiene conditions in the classroom.

Requirements

  • Valid MN teaching license in elementary education K-6.
  • Demonstrated continued professional development through coursework, research, and peer collaboration.
  • Considerable knowledge of core curriculum areas and educational philosophy.
  • Understanding of students' learning styles and needs, including academic and affective aspects.
  • Knowledge of multicultural, gender, and disability fair curriculum concepts.
  • Skill in classroom management and organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to plan and implement lessons based on district goals and student needs.
