About the position
The Elementary Teacher for 2nd Grade at Clayton County Public Schools is responsible for instructing students in various subjects including Reading, ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies. The role involves utilizing current teaching strategies to plan and implement effective lessons, maintaining classroom discipline, and engaging with parents regarding student progress. This position is essential for fostering a positive learning environment and ensuring students meet educational standards.
Responsibilities
- Instructs students using various teaching methods, such as lecture, audiovisual aids, and demonstrations.
- Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students' progress and records results.
- Maintains discipline in the classroom and supervises behavior outside the classroom.
- Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
- Conducts parent/teacher conferences to review students' progress, performance, and behavior problems.
- Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
- Performs all other duties as assigned to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher required.
- Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience preferred.
- Certification by the State of Georgia in Education T-4 to T-7 as required by the GaPSC.
