About the position

The Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts is seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary Teacher for a 3rd Grade position at a .40 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE). This role is specifically open to current employees of the Santa Rosa City Schools district, emphasizing the importance of internal growth and development within the organization. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment that empowers students to embrace diversity, think critically, and adapt to the challenges of the 21st century. As part of this commitment, the teacher will play a crucial role in nurturing the whole student in a safe and challenging environment, recognizing and valuing each student's individuality and the cultural wealth of the community. The position requires the teacher to conduct classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, focusing on the educational and developmental needs of 3rd-grade students. The teacher will also be considered a disaster service worker and/or essential worker during emergencies, crises, and pandemics, highlighting the critical nature of this role in supporting the school community during challenging times. Additionally, the teacher will be expected to complete mandated reporter training and maintain a valid California Multiple Subject Credential along with an English Learner (EL) certification. Responsibilities

  • Teach 3rd-grade classes on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
  • Create and implement engaging lesson plans that meet the educational needs of students.
  • Nurture a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes diversity and critical thinking.
  • Complete mandated reporter training as required by the school district.
  • Participate in school activities and contribute to the school community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned related to emergency, crisis, and/or pandemic situations.

Requirements

  • Valid California Multiple Subject Credential.
  • EL Certification.
  • Ability to teach a 3rd-grade class on specified days (Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday).
  • Completion of Mandated Reporter Training before the first day of employment.
  • Submission of a copy of the current California Credential.
  • Provision of two recent letters of recommendation.
  • Submission of a resume.
