About the position

The Essex Fells School District is seeking qualified candidates for several immediate vacancies for the 2024-2025 school year. The positions available include an Elementary Teacher for maternity leave coverage from September 2024 to June 2025, and an Elementary Special Education Teacher for two maternity leave periods: one from September 2024 to February 2025 and another from January 2025 to June 2025. Additionally, there is a full-time Paraprofessional position available starting in December 2024, and we are also looking for Substitute Teachers and Substitute Nurses. Candidates for the teaching positions should possess a valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or an Essex County Substitute Certificate, while the Substitute Nurses must have the appropriate certification. Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and support to elementary students in a classroom setting.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the needs of all students, including those with special needs.
  • Assess and evaluate student progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other educators and staff to create a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and needs.

Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey Teaching Certificate or Essex County Substitute Certificate for teaching positions.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children, particularly in a special education setting for the Special Education Teacher role.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students and parents.
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for special education students.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a public school setting.
  • Knowledge of current educational practices and special education laws.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators.
