About the position

The Teacher is a state certified educator responsible for delivering course content in an online environment, focusing on individual student needs and progress. This role involves providing instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process. Teachers work closely with students and parents to achieve educational goals and are required to travel occasionally for school functions and state testing. This is a full-time position that typically requires 40+ hours of work per week, primarily from home.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of students' academic progress and attendance, communicating high expectations and showing active interest in student achievement.
  • Prepare students for high stakes standardized tests.
  • Conduct live synchronous teaching for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
  • Provide asynchronous support, including planning course objectives and preparing learning plans.
  • Collaborate with others regarding instruction, resources, and interventions related to student needs.
  • Augment course content according to prescribed policies and procedures using appropriate tools.
  • Submit grades and maintain a grade book, ensuring academic honesty and integrity.
  • Make placement and promotion decisions based on student progress reports.
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families and communicate regularly with students and learning coaches.
  • Organize social and educational activities for students and families, including virtual clubs and outings.
  • Travel to testing sites to proctor state exams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Six months of student teaching experience
  • Meet requirements for Highly Qualified Teacher (HQT) under No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
  • Ohio Elementary Teaching Certificate
  • Pedagogical knowledge of content being taught
  • Knowledge of state content standards
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt for excellent student outcomes
  • Ability to problem solve independently and maintain high organization
  • Ability to work independently for 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction
  • Access to reliable high-speed internet
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification and professional development hours
  • Ability to pass required background check

Benefits

  • Base salary of $40,000
