About the position

The Elevator Operations Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the grain elevator, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and leading a team of hourly employees. This role involves managing grain loading/unloading, sampling, grading, and storage, while maintaining a safe and sanitary workplace. The manager will also focus on employee training, operational improvements, and preventive maintenance schedules to optimize efficiency and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety of all personnel through compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
  • Adhere to and implement Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, and FSMA requirements.
  • Manage daily plant operations including safety, environmental compliance, food safety, quality control, and cost optimization.
  • Recognize and address environmental, safety, and GMP hazards to ensure employee safety and product quality.
  • Maintain good communication and morale among employees, addressing concerns as needed.
  • Develop employee job proficiency and analyze maintenance performance for efficiency improvements.
  • Provide positive reinforcement for good performance and maintain discipline among staff.
  • Engage in the development and training of hourly labor.
  • Utilize mechanical and electrical expertise for troubleshooting and maintaining production systems.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and corporate policies in daily activities.
  • Lead preventive maintenance schedules and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • High School Diploma/GED with years of on-the-job training
  • Technical Certification
  • 2-3 years' experience developing a team
  • Troubleshooting/problem solving experience
  • Good people skills
  • Mechanical and leadership skills
  • Job Hazard Analysis and safety compliance knowledge
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, email, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to train others
  • Ability to lift and transport materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, walking, and reaching
  • Full range of physical motion to operate tools and equipment
  • Ability to work in various environments, including dusty and noisy conditions.
