About the position

The Eligibility Counselor at Eligibility Consultants, Inc. (ECI) plays a crucial role in assisting uninsured patients in navigating their eligibility for various government assistance programs and hospital financial programs. This position involves maintaining a large caseload, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations, and providing compassionate support to patients throughout their application process. The ideal candidate will be energetic, determined, and enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of others while working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Screen hospital uninsured patients for eligibility in government assistance programs.
• Maintain a large caseload with minimal delinquencies.
• Contact patients to gather necessary information for application advancement.
• Use clear and simple language to ensure understanding in English and/or Spanish.
• Comply with all state and federal laws regarding HIPAA and confidentiality requirements.
• Remain focused and productive with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrate respect for all individuals and adhere to ECI's Mission, Vision, and Core Values.

Requirements

• High School diploma / GED (or higher).
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel).
• Ability to work up to 29 hours/week.
• Knowledge of Medicaid and SSI programs.
• Prior experience with HHSC (Medicaid, County Indigent, TANF, SSI) is a plus.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
