About the position

The Eligibility Technician 2 position at the State of Alaska's Department of Family and Community Services involves providing timely and accurate eligibility determinations and benefit authorizations for Title IV-E and Medicaid programs. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and well-being of children in state and Tribal custody, requiring independent case work and the ability to resolve discrepancies in eligibility determinations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide eligibility determinations and benefit authorizations for Title IV-E and Medicaid programs.
  • Process Medicaid for children in state adoption and guardianship subsidy.
  • Assist with applications for Social Security benefits.
  • Identify, research, and resolve inconsistencies and discrepancies in eligibility cases.
  • Provide coverage for vacant positions and support centralized eligibility functions.

Requirements

  • One year of entry-level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska.
  • One year of similar work experience that developed knowledge in applying program requirements and working with clients in stressful situations.
  • Post-secondary education in relevant fields may substitute for required experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in social work or human services.
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and Title IV-E programs.
