About the position
The ELL Bilingual Aide position at Fairmont New Albany-Floyd Co Con Sch is designed to provide instructional support to students, particularly those who are English Language Learners (ELL). This role involves working closely with teachers to reinforce learning, assist with instructional materials, and support students in their academic development. The aide will engage with students in both individual and group settings, helping to promote skill development and facilitate effective communication in both English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Administers, scores and records local achievement and diagnostic tests as recommended by the teacher.
- Works with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of materials and/or skills.
- Assists students with instructional materials assigned by the teacher to promote ongoing skill development.
- Assists students with independent study, enrichment, and remedial work as assigned by the teacher.
- Assists with large group activities such as drill work, reading aloud, etc.
- Reads to students; listens to students read and participates in other forms of oral communication with students.
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by Principal and/or other designee.
Requirements
- Associate's degree or two (2) years college credit or completion of 1,000 hours in the past year as a paraprofessional or successful completion of ParaPro Assessment Test.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in working with school-aged children, parents, and faculty.
- Effective use of spoken and written English.
- Fluency in Spanish preferred.
- Willingness to accept direction and ability to effectively complete assigned tasks.
