About the position

IXL Learning, a leader in personalized learning products, is seeking a Manager, Email Marketing to spearhead the development and execution of email marketing initiatives for our flagship brand, IXL. This role is pivotal in driving customer acquisition and enhancing engagement among our existing customer base, targeting both B2B (teachers, administrators) and B2C (parents) segments. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Marketing and Product teams to devise and implement innovative strategies while also refining existing processes to maximize effectiveness. In this position, you will take ownership of the entire email marketing program, identifying strategic opportunities for growth and retention. This encompasses a wide range of activities, including lead generation, nurturing, engagement, onboarding, upselling, re-engagement, and transactional emails. You will be responsible for optimizing email marketing processes, which include campaign development, email design, segmentation, and personalization. Monitoring analytics and conducting A/B testing will be essential to refine our email strategy and ensure the success of email execution, quality assurance, deliverability, and database maintenance. Additionally, you will manage a team of email marketing specialists, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their professional growth. This role requires a hands-on approach to email operations, including building effective automated programs and ad-hoc emails, while also improving internal workflows. The ideal candidate will be creative, analytical, proactive, and possess strong communication skills, all while being deeply passionate about IXL's mission to positively impact education.

Responsibilities

  • Own the development and execution of email marketing programs for IXL
  • Identify strategic opportunities for growth and retention, including lead generation, lead nurture, engagement, onboarding, upsell, re-engagement, and transactional emails
  • Optimize email marketing processes, including campaign development, email design, segmentation, and personalization
  • Monitor analytics and conduct A/B testing to refine email strategy
  • Ensure success of email execution, QA, deliverability, and maintenance of the database; assist with deployment of emails as needed
  • Collaborate with various teams, including Marketing, Sales, Product, Design, and Engineering, to develop and execute campaigns and automation projects
  • Manage and mentor a team of email marketing specialists

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree
  • 7+ years of email/CRM marketing experience, including experience with SaaS or subscription-based services
  • 2+ years experience managing, coaching, and motivating teams
  • Strong experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including building triggered email programs and managing lists
  • High level of comfort working with engineers and product managers; SQL experience preferred
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to consider ideas from multiple angles and make thoughtful decisions
  • Self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage projects from start to finish
  • Attention to detail with an eye for design and content that resonates with consumers
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally
